Troubleshooting

Your panel will alert you if you are experiencing an RMNF (radio modem network failure) alert. If you have received this communication error, meaning your panel isn’t communicating, you will need to clear the alert and contact customer care for assistance.

Please note, occasionally cell towers will go down for a few minutes. If this happens, try acknowledging the alert. If the alert goes away, then the system has reset itself.

If you are planning to enter and exit your home frequently, and still wish it to be armed, but you don’t want to set off a false alarm, make sure you arm your home to STAY and bypass the door or window sensor you will be using. This will allow your home to still be armed, but will not set off a false alarm when you open the door or window.

Door sensors, or window sensors that are open or activated may cause the system to be not ready to arm. To see the status of your system and which sensors are reading open, follow these steps.

  • Ensure all door and window sensors are completely closed before checking their status
  • Go to your touch screen panel, and push the home button
  • Choose the Security button from your home screen
  • Choose Status to see a list of triggered zones

If your Alder control panel is displaying an electrical plug symbol with a red X over it and your home has power, you will need to complete the following steps because this means that the panel is not receiving power.

  • Find the outlet the panel is plugged into and ensure that it is still plugged in.
  • If your system is still plugged in, check to see if the outlet is working. To test your outlet, unplug your system and plug something else like a lamp or a vacuum and make sure that it is receiving power. If the outlet doesn’t work check your circuit breaker to see if a breaker has been tripped.
  • If power is restored to your system, the red X will disappear and only the white electrical plug symbol will remain in the upper, right-hand corner of your display screen, and your panel will automatically recharge the back-up battery.
  • If you are still experiencing problems, please contact customer support for assistance

FAQ

The duress code is for situations when you need emergency personnel sent to your home but don’t want to alert an intruder that you are calling for help. For example, if you are being forcibly held in your home and need to “disarm” your panel, you can use this code to stop the panel from beeping while simultaneously alerting Alder that you are in distress and need immediate assistance. When Alder receives a duress code, we immediately dispatch the police to your home without attempting to contact you further.

The panic button is there in case of emergency. When you press the button, three options will appear on your touchscreen panel: Panic, Fire, or Emergency (medical). Depending on the type of emergency, Alder will respond accordingly: If you press the Panic button, an audible alarm will sound through and a Alder monitoring professional will use Alder Live to speak to you directly through your touchscreen panel. If you press the Fire button, an audible alarm will sound and the monitoring station will dispatch the fire department. The Fire button will not trigger Alder Live, but a Alder representative will contact you using the emergency contact number you provided. If you press the Emergency button, an audible alarm will sound and Alder Live will be triggered. All three local authorities, Police, Fire, and Ambulance, will be dispatched.

Field service professionals drill only two holes through the entire installation process: one to link the control panel to your home’s power grid and one in your door frame if you choose to install recessed door sensors. These holes are unobtrusive and cannot be seen once the products are installed. Other sensors and detectors are installed using a couple of screws, similar to hanging a picture on your wall.

In case of an emergency, Alder needs to be able to validate that we are talking to you over Alder Live. That is why we require a verbal passcode. This passcode can also be used to turn off a false alarm. We encourage you to choose a passcode that is personal and easy for you to remember.

To prevent open sensors from triggering an alarm when you arm your system, you can either manually or automatically bypass them through your control panel. We’ve created detailed tutorials explaining how to bypass sensors.

There are many things you can do from your panel, including: Arm/disarm your system, Change master and user codes, Customize chime settings, Bypass sensors, Access emergency services, Acknowledge alerts, Clear alarms, See and clear severe weather alerts
